Semi-flexible abrasive tools
Semi-flexible abrasive tools are a variety of products also known as coated abrasives. These include the popular flap discs, semi-flexible grinding discs, mounted flap wheels, fiber discs and CBS, as well as nonwoven discs. Semi-flexibles are abrasive tools with a wide range of applications, from operations to remove large allowances, machining welds, grinding to size, deburring, cleaning to smoothing and polishing.
Different resin bonds and different backing materials
In the case of semi-flexible tools, the bond acts as a link between individual abrasive grains and between the grains and the backing. Bonding technology is more complex (multi-stage) than in the case of typical resin or ceramic bonded wheels, sometimes with various types of composites.
The backing itself is also available in several solutions - paper in different weights, canvases, fibers, polyester and others - which is elementary in terms of its strength and flexibility. Thus, depending on the version of the organic bond used (adhesives or synthetic thermosetting resins), as well as the backing material, different performance of abrasive tools can be expected.
ANDRE's semi-flexible tools (coated), thanks to our many years of experience, are of high quality. Our team of technology specialists responds to the individual needs of end users by manufacturing abrasive tools with strictly designed physical and mechanical parameters dedicated to specific grinding operations.
Example of a semi-flexible abrasive tool design
Applications of semi-flexible abrasive tools
Various operations
Used in grinding operations including different level of removal to finishing operations, various types of maintenance and repair
Various industries
Used for grinding a wide variety of materials of steel, aluminum, wood, marble, granite, terrazzo, concrete, ceramic, glass, cast iron and more
Features of semi-flexible abrasive tools
wide range of applications thanks to original appropriately selected, grain compositions and various backing materials
flexibility in relation to the materials to be machined; tools "adapt" in shape to the surface to be ground
the desired machining effect in the form of an evenly smoothed surface
high safety
low level of noise emission
convenient for the operator - do not require much pressure
FLAP DISCS
Features of flap discs:
• deburring and surface finishing in a single operation
• do not cause scratches on the workpiece
• easily adapt to the workpiece shape
• easier corner processing than with other tools
• quiet operation
• direct mounting on the grinder - no pads
DISCS WITH PROFILED ABRASIVE COATING
Features of discs with profiled abrasive coating:
• long life
• resistant to "loading", no burns
• easy to adapt to the workpiece shape
• convenient for the operator - a lot of pressure do not required
• require shims (plastic or rubber) when mounting to the grinder
CBS DISCS
Features of CBS abrasive discs:
• deburring and surface finishing in one operation
• do not cause scratches on the workpiece
• cool grinding • quiet operation
• they are an alternative to steel brushes
• direct mounting on the grinder- no pads
MOUNTED FLAP WHEELS
Features of mounted flap wheels:
• precise, uniform surface finishing
• easily adaptable to the workpiece, even more complex shapes
• easier processing of hard-to-reach places
• work in great comfort
• direct clamping thanks to the pin
FIBER DISCS
Features of fiber discs:
• high working efficiency
• long life
• cool grinding
• quiet operation
• require the use of backup pad when mounting to the grinder
SOFT NON-WOVEN DISCS
Features of non-woven discs:
• deburring and surface finishing in one operation
• adapting to the specific shape of the surface to be worked on
• high efficiency in polishing work
• direct mounting on the grinder - no pads

95A - Brown fused alumina
ZrA - Zirconium alumina
X (Ca) - Ceramic electrocorundum
99C - Green silicon carbide
98C- Black silicon carbide
Abrasive tools by ANDRE ABRASIVE ARTICLES are safe.
ANDRE gradually improves its technological process to offer abrasive tools with increasingly better usability and a high safety factor in accordance with the applicable standards. Membership in organizations of leading abrasive tool manufacturers and regular certification fully confirm that.
